Delete your LegUp account and data
Last updated:
This page explains how a parent or guardian can delete a child’s LegUp account and everything LegUp keeps about
them, and how your own LegUp sign-in gets deleted. It applies to the LegUp app on the web and the
LegUp Android app (com.leguplearning.app, in closed testing), both made by Leg Up Learning LLC.
In short
- Deleting a child’s account removes their whole record and all their drawings and ink right away. It cannot be undone.
- When you delete the last child account in your family, your LegUp sign-in is deleted too.
- You can do it yourself in the grown-up dashboard, or ask us by email.
- Want a copy first? Use “Download [child]’s data” in the same place before you delete.
Option 1: Delete it yourself
- Go to leguplearning.com/app in a web browser on any phone, tablet, or computer, and sign in with the email address you use for LegUp.
- Open the grown-up dashboard for the child.
- Find the Your data section and choose Delete [child]’s account…
- Type the child’s first name to confirm.
- If you have set a grown-up PIN, enter it when asked.
- Choose Delete for good.
If you have more than one child on LegUp, repeat these steps for each one. When the last child’s account is deleted, your LegUp sign-in is deleted as well and you are signed out.
These steps aren’t in the Android app yet. Use the web dashboard from any device instead, or email us.
Option 2: Ask us to delete it
Email privacy@leguplearning.com from the email address you use to sign in to LegUp, with the subject “Delete my LegUp account.” Tell us the first name of each child whose account you want deleted, or say that you want everything deleted. We will reply to confirm the request came from the account holder, then delete the account and data as described below and let you know when it is done.
What is deleted
Deleting a child’s account immediately removes:
- the child’s profile: first name, grade, interests, and the buddy they made;
- all handwriting, drawings, and ink images;
- all lesson, quiz, and practice activity, progress, skills, streaks, milestones, and rewards, and the learning history behind them;
- all chats with the buddy, the buddy’s memories, and any safety or well-being flags;
- all check-ins, moods, and notes;
- schoolwork items, weekly letters and previews, and the record of emails and notifications sent about the child;
- the child’s settings, grown-up PIN, and training-consent history;
- the list of grown-ups linked to the child (their names, relationships, and emails on this child’s record), so the Friday letter and other emails about the child stop;
- on the device you delete from, the child’s progress saved in the browser.
When you delete your family’s last child account, we also delete your LegUp sign-in (your email address and sign-in history) and your devices’ notification subscriptions. If your sign-in can’t be removed right away, the app lets you know, and we finish removing it.
What is not deleted, or is deleted later
- Other grown-ups’ own sign-ins. A second parent, grandparent, tutor, or teacher you invited keeps their own LegUp sign-in, but loses all access to that child’s record.
- Backups. Copies in our hosting provider’s backups are removed as those backups expire.
- Emails already sent. Letters and notes already delivered stay in the recipients’ inboxes.
- Analytics and error reports. Usage analytics, session replays, and AI request records (PostHog), session recordings and heatmaps (Microsoft Clarity), error reports (Sentry), and app analytics (Google Analytics, and Google Analytics for Firebase in the Android app) are kept for the retention period set with each provider and are not removed by the in-app deletion.
- AI providers. Text and images sent to our AI providers to produce the buddy’s replies are handled under our agreements with those providers.
- Training data already created. If training consent (“Help improve LegUp’s teaching” in the app) was on, learning traces already added to a training set (under pseudonyms) and models already trained stay as they are. Nothing new about the child is added after deletion.
- Other devices. Progress saved in the browser or app on another device stays on that device until it is signed out or its storage is cleared.
Deleting some data without closing the account
- You can turn off voice conversations, chat and video requests in the dashboard at any time.
- You can turn training consent off at any time.
- You can remove another grown-up from a child’s record.
- To delete something specific, email privacy@leguplearning.com.
